Reference materials. Darby
and Cindy encourage FLL faculty to send their suggestions and recommendations
as to what reference materials the library should purchase: dictionaries,
encyclopedias, etc. You may send your requests to Jordi
Marí. <>,
Eika Tai.
<mailto:>, or directly to Cindy
Levine.
SearchAssist: a free service
for graduate students and faculty, that locates materials, databases, and
other information for you on any given topic in which you may be interested.
You can access it here
or from the front page
of the library's website. (The only time a charge would occur is if you requested
a search of a pay-per-use resource (usually only science-related, so irrelevant
for FLL -- and NCSU Libraries even pays the first $100 worth of these).

for students and faculty. Answers quick questions about circulation, reserves,
finding materials, etc.
Ordering materials. You
may email or send campus mail to Darby with all pertinent information (author,
title, press, year is usually enough for American university presses. For
books published abroad or other potentially hard-to-find materials please
provide as much info as possible to assist him locate them). No specific request
form is needed.
Electronic reserves. Only
a small proportion of a book can be placed on electronic reserve at any
given time, but you may have the pages or chapters replaced periodically
to keep up with the readings assigned in your course calendar. Please submit
materials for electronic reserve early on, and provide the syllabus along
with them, so the reserve desk staff know what materials to post first.
Video Reserves. Call the
Media Center (515-2977) to make sure that the video you are interested in
is there. If it is there students can view it during regular office hours.
Call that same phone number to set up a showing of a particular movie in the
theater.
Wish Lists: Have wish
lists ready in case there is end-of-the-year extra money available. Your requests
may include books and also all sorts of audiovisual materials.
