- Dr. Maxine Atkinson has been awarded the American Sociological Association's Hans O. Mauksch Award.
- The University Standing Committee On Extension and Engagement selected Dr. Maxine Thompson's proposal "Developing a Culturally Sensitive Health Literacy Toolkit for Sexually Transmitted Infections for the African American Community" for an award of $10,000.
- Jonathan R. Brauer was awarded first place in the American Society of Criminology's Gene Carte Student Paper competition for his paper, "Testing Social Learning Theory Using Reinforcements Residue: A Multi-Level Longitudinal Analysis of Self-Reported Theft in the NYS."
- Professor Aldige has been elected to serve as the chair of the Society for the Study of Social Problems Mental Health Division.
- Tiffany Taylor and Alison Buck were awarded the Braverman Honorable Mention Award by the Society for the Study of Social Problems for their paper, "Spatial Variation in U.S. Labor Markets and Workplace Sex Segregation, 1980-2000.
